Turning My Greatest Struggle into My Superpower

How I Refused to Let Stuttering Silence Me—And Why You Shouldn’t Let Anything Stop You Either

I was 10, I almost couldn't speak.

I stuttered so badly that even saying my own name felt like a battle.

By 16, I had learned to hide it—staying quiet, avoiding certain words, dodging conversations altogether.

But hiding wasn’t healing. It was survival.

Fast forward to Monday.

I had spent weeks preparing for a podcast episode. I wanted to be a great host, a great guest. I wanted it to be perfect.

But when the moment finally came, exhaustion took over.

And so did my stutter.

The words wouldn’t come out smoothly. My voice, the one I had worked so hard to refine, felt like it was failing me.

The thoughts rushed in:

No one will listen to this.

It’s too uncomfortable, too painful to hear.

How can you help others if you can’t even control your own voice?

I could have given up. Postponed. Cancelled. Waited for a day when my voice felt “better.”

But instead, I kept going.

I recorded. I showed up exactly as I was. I let the world see me.

And now? I am proud.

Proud because this feeling—the one where you push through your biggest fear—is something no one can buy. You can only create it.

Even now, as I get ready to publish that episode, the whispers are still there.

This is pathetic. You couldn’t even control your own body.

- Yes, whispers, I hear you. Now look what I do.

Janelle, the first brave guest on my podcast, needed to transform her fear into confidence before the biggest event of her life.

So we did two things:

  1.  Reframed the fear – Instead of “What if I fail?” → “How can I show up as my best self?”

  2. Visualized success – I guided her through a mental exercise where she saw herself speaking confidently, networking with ease, and walking away feeling proud.

By the end of our session, she wasn’t just “ready.”
She was excited.

She walked away from our session feeling like a 9.9 out of 10.

“Liberated” was how she felt at the end.

Listen to this powerful episode here.

And remember:

No matter how painful external or internal obstacles feel, keep going.

PS. When I broke down, a friend told me: “Business is always about overcoming the hurdles in your way. Stuttering can be yours. And it’s your choice to turn it into your superpower.”

I wouldn’t lie—

That recording day was one of the hardest in a long time.

So please, let me know what you think.

Because this? This is me, choosing to be unstoppable.
